The Right Cutter for the Right Job – Koswork RC Cutter Lineup
Most RC builders own at least one sprue cutter, but few think carefully about which one they’re using or why. A bad cut doesn’t just look wrong — it can crack the part, leave a raised gate that catches paint, or create a stress point that fails later under load. The tool matters, and not every cutter handles every job equally well. Koswork makes four, each designed around a specific kind of work. Here’s how to know which one belongs in your bag.
The Everyday Cutter: KOS13224
The KOS13224 Sprue/Side Cutters is the tool most RC builders need most of the time. High-quality carbon steel blades, precisely sharpened, comfortable anti-slip handle, made in Taiwan. It cuts plastic parts cleanly from model kit sprues and removes the unwanted rubber pins from off-road tires without drama. The design is straightforward because it doesn’t need to be complicated — a well-made cutter that does the job, stays sharp with normal use, and won’t break down on you mid-build. At 125mm it’s a comfortable working length, and the price means you can keep one in your daily pit bag and another in your car bag.
If you’re new to RC building and picking your first proper cutter, this is where to start. If you’re already running one and it’s feeling dull or imprecise, this is a clean upgrade that doesn’t overcomplicate things.

Built for Rubber, Built for Race Day: KOS13225
The KOS13225 Tire/Rubber Cutters is for racers who tune tires between rounds. Carbon steel blades designed and sharpened specifically for cutting rubber — tire nubs, off-road pins, and the small adjustments that affect how your car hooks up on different track surfaces. Using a standard sprue cutter on rubber produces ragged edges and puts unnecessary stress on the blades. The KOS13225 is made for that material, and the difference in cut quality is immediately obvious. The anti-slip handle keeps your grip secure when you’re working quickly in a tight pit window, and the 125mm length gives you good leverage without being unwieldy. It handles sprue work too, but tire tuning is the job it was built around.
If you’re running off-road and adjusting tire prep based on conditions, this cutter belongs in your race bag alongside your other tire tools.

Precision Kit Building: KOS13272
The KOS13272 TA Sharp Sprue/Side Cutter (Slim, Long Jaw) is a step up in precision for builders who spend serious time on kits. The slim, long jaw is the key feature — it reaches into corners of the parts tree where a standard cutter simply can’t fit, and the extended length gives you better visibility and control over each cut. The dual-edge blades are modeled after the Tamiya 74123 design, sharpened to cut cleanly through plastic without the stress marks and raised gates that cheaper cutters leave behind. The cutter is well balanced and properly centered so you’re applying force exactly where you intend to. An adjustable screw prevents the blades from contacting each other during storage and use, protecting the cutting edge over time. Non-slip handle, protective cap included. 120mm. Made in Taiwan.
For 1/10 kit work this is the size and format that makes sense — long enough for comfortable control, slim enough to navigate any parts tree you’re likely to encounter.

Detail Work and Painted Surfaces: KOS13274
The KOS13274 GH Single Edge Sharp Sprue/Side Cutter (Extra Slim) is a different tool for a different purpose. Where the KOS13272 uses dual-edge blades, the KOS13274 uses a single-edge design modeled after the GodHand SPN-120 — one blade does the cutting while the other acts as a flat, stable backing surface. The result is that less force transfers to the part during the cut. Gates come off with noticeably less surface distortion, and on dark or finished plastic the difference is clear: no white stress marks, no micro-cracks, a cleaner surface that needs minimal cleanup. The extra-slim jaw gets into positions that are physically impossible for a standard cutter. If you’re building scale bodywork, cutting near painted surfaces, or doing any kind of detail assembly where the finish quality of each cut matters, this is the tool that solves those problems. Adjustable screw, protective cap included. 125mm. Made in Taiwan.
This is also the choice for modelers who work with Tamiya or other scale kits where gate removal quality directly affects the final look of the build.

All four cutters are made in Taiwan and designed for RC and scale model use. They are not suitable for cutting metal, wire, or hard materials beyond the plastic diameter limits listed on each product page. Available through your local Koswork dealer or authorized distributor worldwide.
